=== Debate over government intervention === A group of 599 venture capitalists, including Garry Tan and David O. Sacks, along with hedge fund manager Bill Ackman and California State Senator Scott Wiener, called for a government intervention to protect uninsured depositors. Representatives Ruben Gallego of Arizona and Eric Swalwell of California called for depositors to be made whole, while Representatives Ro Khanna and Brad Sherman of California called on the Treasury Department and FDIC to affirm that depositors would be protected so they could make payroll.
